If you’re sitting on your couch in the US, Africa is this far, far away country of mystery. But, if your sitting at a bar with your friends in Sevilla Spain, Africa is merely a quick jump across the Mediterranean. That’s how the trip began…

During May and June, our ten-member group came to Sevilla to study Spanish on Road Scholar‘s six-week language program.. Life was good AND tough. We studied (a lot). We played. We ate yogurt. We learned. We traveled. One night, we were sitting outside a local bar having our mandatory Tinto Verano (Summer Red Wine), when the topic came up…what’s next?

Without engaging my brain, I blurted out…Africa. Everyone expressed immediate reactions of NO or Disbelief or Hummm. Pallas said I’ll go. Suddenly, the trip to Africa was on the table.
That evening, I began researching trips available that would work with our schedules. Now, understand, lots happens between June and December, but Pallas and I settled on Road Scholar’s Southern Africa Safari and Train Adventure: From Cape Town to Victoria Falls. This trip would take us from Cape Town, South Africa through Zimbabwe, to Victoria Falls, to Botswana and back to JoBurg…16 days by plane, train, and foot.
The trip will begin December 19, 2025, end January 3, 2026. Pallas and I invite you to follow our adventures, seeing great animals, visiting villages, learning new cultures and food of this mysterious country.
